Originally called Birdhouse Projects, Birdhouse Skateboards was formed in 1992 by Tony Hawk and Per Welinder. The name Birdhouse is derived from Tony’s last name, Hawk. The company is part of Blitz Distribution which make other skateboards, notably Baker and Flip as well as Hook-Ups and SK8 Mafia Skateboards.
